TUCSON URBAN — Lakeside, Kennedy, Silverbell and Sahuarita, were stocked with channel catfish last week. Try chicken liver, worms, hot dogs or prepared catfish bait. These lakes also have aggressive, fast growing, tasty, hybrid sunfish. Fishing for sunfish has been good. Use mealworms and earthworms and a small hook, size 10 or smaller, under a bobber set at 3 to 5 feet. Buy a two-pole stamp and try different baits to double your odds

Lakeside, Kennedy, Silverbell and Sahuarita, will be stocked with channel catfish this week. One angler at Kennedy on May 4 reports catching the “best looking fish since the mid 80s: loved the size and fun.” Try chicken liver, worms, hot dogs or prepared catfish bait. These lakes also have aggressive, fast growing, tasty, hybrid sunfish. Fishing for sunfish has been good. Use mealworms and earthworms and a small hook, size 10 or smaller, under a bobber set at 3 to 5 feet. Buy a two-pole stamp and try different baits to double your odds.

Fishing for catfish is rated good to excellent at the various Urban Program lakes in both the Tucson and Phoenix areas. Top baits include stink baits, shrimp, hot dogs, and worms fished on the bottom. The catfish are biting best in the evenings and early morning periods. Sunfish are biting well at most lakes using small worms or meal worms. More sunfish will be stocked the week of May 24-29, just in time for the beginning of summer vacation for the kids. Fishing at Green Valley lakes (Payson) is fair for trout, with bass, bluegill and crappie action rated as good.

It rained in the morning but when we got there it cleared and got hot & sunny. With four poles in the water with power bait we just got tans in the sun. As the afternoon wore on the clouds rolled back in. One small trout caught in fairly shallow water.
A lot of small white knats were hatching along with dragonfly larvae and I realized why the weren't interested in our bait. I tried fly fishing and caught a couple of small bluegill in close. All fish were released (too small). The rain came back and we packed it in. Better luck next time.

Hi fishermans i come from mexico but i love to fish in this lake a have had little luck with bass fishing but i know there are some lunkers there. I have little complain; in the time that i have been fishing here i notice that some people dont care about catch and release and they take all kinds of fish, i dont know with what purpose, because they take little pieces i dont think they are going to eat them, but what about the limits and sizes. I hope somebody takes care on this for the future of fishing of our sons. PD excuse my english.
have a good fishin day ......... bye
